This policy applies to all ZSA employees, including full-time, part-time, and temporary employees, as well as persons acting on behalf of ZSA.

Policy Description

ZSA demonstrates its commitment to equity and diversity by providing a supportive work environment and corporate culture that welcomes members of designated groups. The Ontario Human Rights Code prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, age, sex, record of offences, marital status, family status, handicap, and sexual orientation. Under the Canadian Human Rights Act, it is against the law to discriminate on the basis of race, sex, colour, age, national or ethnic origin, religion, marital status, family status, disability, sexual orientation and a pardoned criminal conviction.

ZSA does not condone any form of discrimination. It endorses and embraces the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code, which prohibit discriminatory practices. It is our objective to ensure that all employees have an equal opportunity to progress within our company. Equity and cultural diversity provides for the effective management of human resources and a representative workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate. ZSA has undertaken the following measures to ensure employment equity and diversity in the workplace:

the appointment of its Human Resources manager to manage, implement and coordinate the employment equity plan and to implement and coordinate employment equity and cultural diversity initiatives internally and with external designated groups; creating and maintaining a workplace free from discrimination and intervene when discrimination problems arise; and assist in investigations by assigning a co-investigator, reviewing results, making recommendations ensuring they are acted upon.
