Jill Hugessen

Jill Hugessen is an independent lawyer coach and development consultant. She has a a niche in transition coaching, which includes any major transition in a lawyer’s career cycle: becoming a partner, client team leader or practice group leader, changing firms/companies, returning to work after a leave of absence, job loss, retirement, etc. The consulting aspect of Jill’s practice includes assisting lawyers who are seeking new employment opportunities with reviewing and fine-tuning applications and résumés, and preparing for interviews. Jill’s expertise is derived from many years of experience as a corporate/commercial lawyer in private practice and as director of professional development for a major Canadian law firm, as well as several years as in-house counsel in the manufacturing/retail sector. She has reviewed thousands of résumés and interviewed many of the candidates behind them, so she knows what employers are looking for. Jill is a graduate of McGill University (1985), a member of the Quebec Bar (1986) and a member of the International Coaching Federation (2010).
