Our customer, Lantic Inc. (TSX: RSI), is a Canadian company with over 130 years experience in supplying a full range of high-quality natural sugars and sweeteners. The company operates cane sugar refineries in Montreal and Vancouver, as well as a sugar beet factory in Taber, Alberta. With the acquisition of L.B. Maple Treat Corporation and Decacer, they now also carry a range of authentic maple syrup products for both retail and industrial markets.
To better serve its needs and build in-house expertise, the company is hiring its first in-house lawyer.
Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for all of the company’s legal matters. You will provide day-to-day advice to management and to the company’s various business units, mainly on commercial law and risk management, but also on acquisitions and financing. You will participate in the negotiation and drafting of various commercial contracts, including sugar purchases, sales contracts, supplier contracts, information technology contracts, and so on. You will ensure compliance of company practices with applicable legislation and regulations, implement procedures and templates, and provide in-house training as required. Where necessary, you will also act as contact person with external lawyers for dispute management.
If you’re known for your resourcefulness, practical and business acumen, team spirit, and entrepreneurial spirit, we’d like to talk to you! You must have at least 7 years of relevant experience in business law, be a member of the Quebec Bar, and be bilingual to qualify. Knowledge of securities will be considered an asset, but is not a prerequisite for qualification. Ref : #32390
