
Toronto | 5 + Years (remote possibility)
Sole practitioner of a very busy family law firm looking for a law clerk with a minimum of 5 years experience in every aspect of Family Law.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft various Court and legal documents related to applications, affidavits, separation agreements, domestic contracts, motion materials, minutes of settlement, continuing records, conference briefs and order
Draft various correspondence to the Court, opposing counsel and external parties
Draft charts summarizing support payments and extraordinary expenses
Review and summarize disclosures received from clients, opposing counsel and external parties
Prepare Financial and Net Family
Property statements
Trial management -trial scheduling endorsement forms, witness will-say statements, service and attendance, trial records, and evidence briefs
Uncontested Divorce—complete all documents and set down
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, various court trial coordinators and other external parties as required
Schedule appointments, monitor lawyers calendar, respond to inquiries and requests while documenting all interactions
What they are looking for:
Law Clerk Diploma and/or Paralegal
Licence/Diploma.
Complete understanding of current legal terminology and working knowledge of the Family Law Rules, Court rules where applicable.
Problem solver, self-starter, knowledge of deadlines and meeting them
Advanced knowledge of and experience with DivorceMate, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat
Advanced technical, skills and familiarity with transferring documents electronically, setting Zoom calls, using OneKey, proper naming of documents to o be submitted and Caselines
Excellent and diverse people skills, organized and ability to multitask
Remuneration and Holiday
This is a contract position initially for one year with a 3 month probation period.
Compensation is very compatible and bonus incentives offered
2 weeks paid holiday including Christmas holidays and New Years
