HR Manager – In office role
Position Summary
The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a strong understanding of employment law, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to support a diverse workforce in a high-performance legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, implement and regularly update HR policies, procedures, and initiatives
aligned with firm goals and growth
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and
employee engagement
- Support a consistent and positive employee experience across all offices
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for legal, administrative, and support roles
- Partner with local hiring managers to identify staffing needs and optimize hiring processes
- Oversee onboarding programs to ensure smooth integration and early success of new
hires
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance
issues
- Manage performance review processes and support ongoing feedback and development
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-accountability workplace culture
Compliance & Employment Law
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation
- Manage employee documentation, policies, and HR systems
- Support investigations, disciplinary processes, and terminations
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Administer benefits and HRIS systems
- Analyze HR metrics and provide reporting to leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-5 years progressive HR experience, preferably in a professional service or legal environment
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPHR designation (or working toward) is considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law and HR best practices
- Experience supporting multi-location teams is an asset
- Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills

Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
