1-5 years | South Shore of Montreal with partial telecommuting

Our client, ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada, has over 1,900 employees and is dedicated to the safe production of durable steel at its facilities in Contrecoeur, Longueuil, Montreal and Hamilton. ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada is part of ArcelorMittal, a company that employs close to 10,000 people in Canada and more than 200,000 internationally. To continue to meet their needs, they have created a Legal Counsel position within their procurement team.

Upon joining the team, you will be involved in the creation of contract templates and the implementation of procedures for monitoring and managing contracts, by working closely with the legal team. You will be in regular contact with suppliers to conclude contracts related to tenders and establish the terms and conditions, both legal and business. You will ensure that contracts comply with internal rules and applicable regulations/legislation, monitor the contract expiration schedule and ensure renewals under the best possible conditions. You will also work with the Vice President of Legal Affairs & Compliance on commercial claims, both in terms of negotiation and drafting of settlement agreements. Finally, you will provide a variety of legal advice to different business units on issues ranging from environmental law to employment law.

Do you have at least one year of relevant experience in commercial law, are bilingual and a member of the Quebec Bar? Are you resourceful and like to be “in the field” and in the thick of things? Please note that the position can be based in Contrecoeur, Longueuil or Montreal, and that telecommuting for part of the time, depending on the company’s policies, will be possible post-pandemic.
