Job description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Law Clerk to join our family law team in Oakville. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is able to manage complex family law files, and can work collaboratively in a time-efficient manner. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter, excellent team player, and able to independently manage all clerical aspects of a family law file, supporting our lawyers in same.
Position Overview/Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage family law matters, including drafting pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, and documents pertaining to family law proceedings
- Prepare and file court documents in compliance with Family Law Rules and coordinate all procedural steps
- Conduct legal research to support senior partners and junior associates in trial and motion preparation, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials
- Provide exceptional client service and guidance
- Maintain organized files, manage correspondence, and monitor deadlines to ensure procedural integrity and timely case progression
- Manage schedules for the senior partner and two-three junior associates
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior law clerk in family law
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario Family Law Rules and procedures
- A law clerking diploma is considered a strong asset
- Strong drafting, organizational, and client-relations skills
- Proficiency in relevant legal software (e.g., LEAP, DivorceMate) and Microsoft Office Applications

Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000
