Our client, Chantier Davie Canada Inc. (Davie), is a Québec-based shipbuilder with a long history of delivering specialist, mission-critical vessels for government and commercial customers, including icebreakers, ferries and naval vessels. As a strategic partner under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, Davie is positioned for sustained long-term growth.

Faced with this growth, Davie is looking to expand its Legal Affairs department.

In this newly established role, you will provide guidance to internal departments regarding their legal responsibilities. Your responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing various commercial contracts, such as calls for tenders and bids to government contracts, service and supply contracts, subcontractor contracts, and more. Additionally, you will be involved in risk identification and management, proposing action plans where necessary. You will also work on establishing internal frameworks and models, as well as developing internal processes and policies aimed to standardize procedures and enhance the efficiency of the Legal Department.

Do you possess a natural inclination for building and aspire to contribute to intricate, extensive projects? Are you meticulous, pragmatic, and business-oriented, and have demonstrated experience in taking initiative and exercising autonomy? If you are a member of a Canadian bar, and have at least five years of relevant experience gained at a reputable law firm or company, we’d like to hear from you.
