Our client, NAPA Auto Parts, is Canada’s leading distributor and marketer of parts and accessories for cars, trucks and heavy vehicles. Founded in 1926, NAPA is a member of the Genuine Parts Company (GPC), an international service company specializing in the distribution of automotive and industrial parts, office products and electrical and electronic equipment. NAPA operates across Canada and employs 5,000 people in 15 distribution centers and 700 parts stores as well as at its head office in Montreal.
In light of the company’s expansion and ongoing projects, many of which relate to electric vehicles, NAPA is creating the position of Senior Legal Counsel to assist the Director of Legal Affairs, who until now, had been the sole in-house counsel.
On a daily basis, you will work closely with the company’s Mergers & Acquisitions team and assist them in analyzing business opportunities as well as following up and completing asset or share purchase transactions. You will also be involved in negotiating various large-scale commercial contracts, including complex service agreements for the implementation of NAPA supply centers within the customers’ mechanical centers, contracts with suppliers, supply agreements with customers, transportation contracts, etc. You will participate in both private and public tendering processes to serve fleet operators, large corporations, municipalities & government agencies, etc.
Are you excited for the opportunity to be part of a small team within a large company? Are you looking for a collegial working environment? Do you enjoy dealing with decision-makers as well as people who are ‘on the ground’, and are able to adapt legal concepts to your audience while finding solutions that are both practical and sound? We’d love to speak with you! We are looking for someone who is quick to adapt, resourceful and dynamic, and knows the importance of good service to internal clients. Note that this is a hybrid role, the successful candidate can work out of one of the company’s main offices, including: Scarborough, Mississauga, Cambridge, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver or Moncton.
