Our Client, a full service law firm located in downtown Toronto, dedicated to delivering responsive, quality service , advice and technical expertise who prides themselves in balancing high standards of professionalism with a congenial, flexible work environment is looking to add a Senior Manager Corporate Services and Tax to their team.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Corporate & Tax Law Clerks, Assistants and all of their work-related tasks;
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and mentoring while motivating the teams, as well as ongoing training and skills assessment/development;
  • Responsible for staff scheduling, including: office rotations, approving employee vacations, monitoring overtime;
  • Performance management of work quality, personnel issues, workflow, and other concerns in an effective, timely manner;
  • Ensure service levels are being met, and coordinating all work flow; assessing staff availability, and monitoring of billable and non-billable hours on a regular basis;
  • Identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiency, and create strategies to boost productivity by assessing department practices, processes and precedents;
  • Maintain new and existing client relations, while providing exceptional customer service, including interacting with clients, answering client inquiries, and effectively handling client concerns in a timely manner;
  • Review and manage corporate/tax records and databases ensuring that these are maintained, up-to-date and used effectively;
  • May perform a variety of complex and more routine corporate legal duties as required;
  • Preparation of the following documents: Articles of Incorporation/Organization (including share provisions), Amalgamations, Amendments, Revivals, Dissolutions, Continuances, Extra Provincial Registrations;
  • Review and update minute books to rectify deficiencies;
  • Draft agreements and provide supporting documents relating to corporate and tax reorganizations;
  • Participate in departmental projects that focus on corporate software upgrades.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ previous experience working in a mid- to large law firm or equivalent experience with a solid focus on Corporate law;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in management or supervisory positions;
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent law degree is an asset from an accredited law school;
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Calendar) and CorpLink and FastCo;
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships;
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work within time sensitive deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
