    • Are you interested in everything related to the environment, recycling/composting, and renewable energy?
    • Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to participate in the local and international growth of a local company?
    • Are you excited to be a company’s first in-house counsel?

This may be the opportunity for you!

Our client, EBI, is a privately owned Quebec company founded in 1960 whose main mission is the management of residual materials. With more than 3000 employees and several entities in Quebec and Latin America, EBI ensures the collection and transportation of materials from the municipal, industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. Thanks to its efficient infrastructures, EBI sorts and recovers recyclable materials, composts organic materials, and safely disposes of final residual materials. Active in the field of renewable energies, EBI owns a fleet of trucks running entirely on natural gas.

To support its growth plans, our client is creating a position of Director, Legal Affairs, and Corporate Secretary to assist its management team.

Reporting to the CFO and having close contact with the President, the VP of Operations, and the operational managers, you will act as the company’s first in-house lawyer. In addition to providing strategic advice to management and various internal departments, you will be involved in the negotiation and drafting of various commercial contracts involving third parties around the world. You will put in place internal procedures and policies to ensure that the company’s practices comply with applicable legislation, particularly concerning the protection of personal information, contract management, the code of ethics, etc. You will analyze business opportunities and act as an advisor on planned or ongoing transactions, including acquisitions, partnerships, or purchases/sales of companies, both locally and internationally. You will ensure the smooth running of board and committee meetings, and provide corporate follow-ups for the group’s various entities. Finally, you will act as a point of contact with external lawyers in the relevant jurisdictions, when required, in the event of disputes or litigation.

Are you action-oriented and responsible, able to propose practical and concrete solutions to business people? Do you have an eye for risk identification, and good communication and negotiation skills? If you are interested in building the function, implementing processes and procedures, and supporting a growing company, we would love to connect with you. You must have at least eight years of relevant legal experience, be a member of a Canadian provincial bar and be bilingual to qualify. Although not required, experience in a company with an environmental impact and knowledge of Spanish would be considered an asset. Please note that the position requires a presence at the Berthierville head office at least two days per week. Ref. : #32230

This is an exclusive mandate to ZSA. Please note that resumes sent to or contacts made with EBI will be redirected to ZSA for analysis.
