Position Summary:
Our client, an employment and litigation Law firm is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal with expertise in Employment Law, Civil Litigation, and administrative tribunal procedures. The successful candidate will manage client matters from intake through resolution, represent clients at hearings and mediations, and provide comprehensive legal support to ensure effective advocacy and procedural compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in matters before the Small Claims Court (SCC), the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), and other administrative bodies relating to employment law and civil litigation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare analysis on issues relating to employment law, workplace disputes, civil litigation, and administrative procedures.
- Manage case files from intake to resolution, including client communication, evidence gathering and review, disclosure, and preparation for hearings or trials.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, correspondence, and supporting briefs with clear analysis and citations.
- Analyze and summarize case law, statutes, and regulations for use in litigation, negotiations, and client advisories.
- Negotiate settlements, advocate on behalf of clients, and ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
- Assist lawyers as required in the preparation, coordination, and attendance of hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Maintain efficiency, accuracy, and organization while handling multiple cases in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of the Small Claims Court, HRTO procedures, and employment law practices.
- Demonstrated experience representing clients in employment law and civil litigation matters.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Skilled in advocacy, negotiation, and client relationship management.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
