Our client, Metaltech-Omega Inc. (“Metaltech”), is a privately-owned Canadian company with two distinct brands, covering two different markets but united by the same component: steel products and the design of new models. Metaltech is a scaffolding leader with offices in Canada and the United States, while Omega is a North American pioneer in welded mesh fencing systems. Metaltech-Omega has more than 15,000 points of sale in North America, and is part of a group of companies that includes Échafauds Plus and Cactusoft, which serve various markets: residential, construction, rental centers and industrial development. In total, the group employs over 540 people.

To meet their needs, our client is looking to hire a Director of Legal Affairs to be based out of their head office in Laval, on a hybrid work model.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be in charge of the legal function for the company and the group of companies mentioned above, as the sole in-house lawyer. You will be heavily involved with and will spend a significant portion of your time drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements (many of which are related to construction), and you will ensure the standardization of the various agreement templates. You will also ensure that the company’s practices comply with the applicable legislative & regulatory frameworks, and will play a general advisory role in identifying and mitigating legal risks. In addition, you will provide legal advice on a wide variety of topics, from privacy and intellectual property to dispute management, corporate, regulatory and municipal law, project financing and more. When required, you will act as a point of contact with external lawyers to guide strategy on files.
