Our client, a Boutique Insurance Defence Law Firm with offices in Toronto, Kitchner-Waterloo and London is currently looking for a Legal Assistant to join their collaborative team!
Job Description:
- Works independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
- Preparing routine correspondence
- Opening/closing of files
- File organization, including naming and saving all documents to PrimaFact. Classifies, sorts, and files correspondence, records, and other documents, and keeps all matters updated and current
- Schedule management, maintaining calendars, schedule meetings, Discoveries, EUO’s , Mediations and court dates etc.
- Ensure all court documents are in order and filed before deadlines
- Manages timing and action plans for completing events and preparing correspondence, reports and other documents ahead of need.
- Organizes workload to meet established priorities.
- Proofreads, verifies, and edits all materials for extreme accuracy and clarity.
- Coordinate’s meetings, travel plans, telephone calls and conferences, including ordering meals, scheduling conference rooms, and room set up when required.
- Uses advanced computer skills to work in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PrimaFact, and other programs to prepare correspondence, documents, reports, charts, tables, and forms in various files.
- Communicates with clients, courts, other law firms and clients on an ongoing basis with respect to client file matters, and uses discretion and judgment when speaking to them..-
- Handles confidential information professionally and consistent with legal and ethical policies.
- Arrange/booking surveillance, expert assessments and defense medicals
- Follow up on settlement documents and settlement funds if applicable
- Other duties, as required.
