Our client, Chantier Davie Canada Inc. (Davie), is Canada’s premier shipbuilder and a global leader in the delivery of specialist, mission-critical vessels to government and commercial customers. As a partner in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, its order book extends into the 2040s.

Faced with this sustained growth, Davie is looking to expand its Legal Affairs department.

In this newly established role, you will report to the General Counsel and provide guidance to internal departments regarding their legal responsibilities. Your responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing various commercial contracts, such as calls for tenders and bids to government contracts, service and supply contracts, subcontractor contracts, and more. Additionally, you will be involved in risk identification and management, proposing action plans where necessary. You will also work on establishing internal frameworks and models, as well as developing internal processes and policies aimed to standardize procedures and enhance the efficiency of the Legal Department.

Do you possess a natural inclination for building and aspire to contribute to intricate, extensive projects? Are you meticulous, pragmatic, and business-oriented, and have demonstrated experience in taking initiative and exercising autonomy? If you are a member of the Quebec Bar, perfectly bilingual and have between 3 and 5 years’ relevant experience acquired from a reputable law firm or company, we’d like to hear from you. Experience in government contracts, defense contracts or maritime law will be considered an asset, as will a common law degree. Ref: #32813a
