12-month contract (start: June 2025)
4 or 5 days per week
100% remote work or hybrid mode, depending on your preference
- Are you interested in joining an entrepreneurial environment in the fast-growing renewable energy sector?
This is your chance!
The ANDRITZ GROUP is a global leader in the production systems and services market across all its business sectors. In the hydropower sector, Andritz provides turnkey electromechanical equipment and services for hydroelectric power plants. The department includes nearly 50 lawyers worldwide.
Andritz Canada is seeking a Legal Counsel on a fixed one-year maternity leave replacement contract, with a preferred start date of June 2025.
Reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs for Canada, you will be part of a team that includes two lawyers based in Canada and seven others across North America. While your primary responsibility will be to support Canadian operations related to hydroelectric energy production, you will also be involved in legal matters affecting other business groups, including pulp and paper, separation, and metals. You will provide legal support to business units, with a primary focus on commercial and construction law, and a secondary focus on labour and employment law. This includes drafting, reviewing, and interpreting a variety of commercial agreements such as client contracts, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, service agreements, and more. You will also support HR and labour relations departments in matters such as dismissals, disciplinary actions, and collective agreement negotiations (without having to represent in proceedings). You will also occasionally assist with managing disputes and litigations (in collaboration with external counsel as needed) and provide support to the Director on transactional matters.
Do you enjoy being at the heart of the action, demonstrating autonomy, and offering practical solutions that protect the company while facilitating business goals? We would love to discuss this with you!
Please note that to qualify you must be bilingual, a member of the Quebec Bar, and have at least 5 years of relevant experience in business law. Training or knowledge of common law will be considered a significant asset. The position is initially full-time, but we will consider a 4-day/week option for an experienced candidate. We will accept applications from candidates seeking a full-time, in-office, hybrid, or 100% remote work arrangement. Ref.: #33628
