Our client is seeking a law clerk with over 5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in handling various plaintiff and personal injury cases.
The firm offers a relaxed working environment and a competitive salary and benefits package.
While they embrace remote work on a part-time basis, they anticipate the new law clerk to begin with regular in-office presence for on boarding.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with clients and draft a variety of legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, and contracts.
- Manage, organize and maintain case files, documents and database.
- Liaise with insurance adjusters on accident benefits cases
- Assist clients with coordinating treatment with service providers
- Communicate professionally with clients, counsel, medical professionals, adjusters and other parties via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Support attorneys in trial preparation and coordination of case activities such as discoveries, mediations and hearings.
- Draft pleadings
- Organize and maintain accurate inventory of plaintiff claims using case management database.
- Ensure timely filing of legal documentation.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
- Screen potential new clients for accurate intake of background information and identify potential conflicts.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Law Clerk Diploma
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a law clerk, preferably in plaintiff, personal injury and accident benefits.
- Ability to efficiently use legal software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Time Matters, and CaseLines for document preparation, management, and research.
- Proficiency in legal research tools like Canlii and Westlaw
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong collaborative attitude to work effectively in a team-based environment, assisting lawyers and colleagues as needed.
- Proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
