Our client, Intact Financial Corporation (“Intact”), is the largest provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada and one of the largest providers of specialty insurance in North America, with over $12 billion in annual premiums. To support its growth through acquisition, both locally and internationally, Intact is looking to add to its legal team, which already consists of over 70 professionals in Canada and the United States.

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal Affairs, and working closely with both the Vice President, Legal Affairs and the Senior Vice President, Corporate and Legal Services and Secretary, your day-to-day responsibilities will be primarily devoted to transactional matters, whether they involve acquisitions, equity investments or strategic partnerships, both at the business opportunity analysis stage and at the transaction implementation stage, which is largely driven internally with the assistance of external firms. You will identify the legal and commercial issues inherent in the various projects and advise senior management on the best solutions to minimize legal and business risks. You will negotiate and draft various agreements related to the transactions, act as a point of contact with external lawyers and ensure the legal integration of the entities once the acquisitions are completed.
